      What to visit

      Baqueira Beret Ski Resort
One of the most important ski resorts in Spain.
It is located in the Catalan Pyrenees, in the Vall d’Aran region. The resort is divided into three zones perfectly connected with each other: Baqueira (for advanced skiers), Beret (for beginners), and Bonaigua (with plenty of off-piste areas); together, they total 108 km of marked slopes.
      It has 71 slopes (5 green, 34 blue, 26 red, and 6 black), 32 lifts, and a 7 km cross-country skiing circuit.

      Montara Sanctuary
At the northeastern edge of Vall d’Aran lies a place that combines history and nature in a setting of great beauty. To get there, you can follow an easy hiking route along a comfortable forest track of approximately 12 km round trip, starting from Plan de Beret at the end of the parking lots. The route is very pleasant and runs alongside the Noguera Pallaresa River, surrounded by black pine forests and wide pasture areas.
The Sanctuary, built in 1117 and completely renovated, stands as an ideal space for rest and contemplation, where the serenity of the landscape and the flow of the river invite relaxation and enjoyment of the surroundings.

      Arties
Together with Salardú, it is the most important town in Naut Arán. Located at 1,143 meters above sea level, between the Valarties and Garona rivers, it is a perfect place to get lost wandering its streets. It is a charming and quaint village, where typical wooden, stone, and slate houses mix with colorful French-style homes. The selection of restaurants and shops, all of high quality, surprises with its variety and excellence.
Its historic center stands out for the Church of Santa María, which combines Romanesque and Gothic styles, the Portolá palace house with its 16th-century tower, and the Paulet house, also from the 16th century. In its restaurants, you can enjoy traditional dishes such as truhada, patarnes, Bagergue cheeses, and the famous Aranese stew, which is also available at the hotel.

      Vielha
With around 4,000 inhabitants and located at 974 meters above sea level, it is the capital of Vall d’Aran. It is a modern town offering all the services a visitor may need, combining convenience with an interesting cultural heritage.
Among its must-see sites are the Church of San Miguel, in the town center, which houses the medieval Cristo de Mijarán, the Aranese Ethnological Museum, the town hall portico, the Co de Rodes palace house, the Wool Museum, and the General Martinón Tower, built in the 17th century.

Bausén and the Carlac Beech Forest
The beeches of Carlac look like figures straight out of a fairy tale; these centuries-old trees amaze every visitor. Don’t miss visiting the Teresa Cemetery, the smallest cemetery in Spain, with a very peculiar history.

The itinerary starts in Bausén along the path that surrounds the upper part of the church and its cemetery, heading towards the Sant Roc hermitage, in the direction of the Taishoères area. From here, a detour can be made to visit the civil cemetery. Climbing the mountainside, you reach the wonderful beech and fern forest.

The route continues parallel to the Arriu or Carlac River, which is crossed via a log bridge, and gradually ascends to the Coret or Collado de Pan (1,175 meters), the highest point of the route, with impressive views and the Maladeta as its landmark. From there, the path descends towards les Bòrdes de Sacrotz and Cap des Camps, turning into a forest track until returning to Bausén.
