Plasencia holds centuries of history behind its medieval walls and in its old town, where the Romanesque Old Cathedral and the Gothic New Cathedral stand. In the Plaza Mayor, with its arcades and terraces, the city’s life comes together. The Palace of the Marquises of Mirabel adds a Renaissance touch to the walk through the center. To unwind, the Parque de los Pinos offers shade and peace, and the nearby Monfragüe National Park—designated a Biosphere Reserve—surprises with cliffs, vultures, and the Tagus River.
