        Collegiate Church of San Isidoro

It was chosen as the first marvel of the Spanish Romanesque due to its history, architecture, sculpture, and for its sumptuous objects that have been preserved. At the beginning, it was a monastery dedicated to San Pelayo, although it is believed that a Roman temple was placed before in its foundation. It was when the mortal remains of San Isidoro, bishop of Seville, were moved to the city, when the title of the temple was changed.

Barrio romántico y barrio húmedo (Neighbourhood)

Going up through the Calle Ancha, the most important street of the city from two thousand years ago which divide the old quarter into two, we can contemplate the neoclassic buildings and the eldest shops of the city. Leaving the Barrio Románico at our right and located around the Parque del Cid, a perfect place to taste the "tapas" from Leon and admire the beauty of buildings as La Casa Botines de Gaudí, we can find the Basilica of San Isidoro and the Palace of Guzmanes.

At our left, we find ourselves with the Barrio Húmedo: in this area, we will be able to taste the local cuisine in several bars and taverns, as well as enjoying the lively night-life of the city. The Plaza Mayor and Plaza de San Martín are two places that worth the visit.
