Walk through the rice paddies and salt flats
The Mondego River flows serenely down from the mountains. Its waters, even before reaching the immense ocean, are one of the pillars of the economy in the area known as the Baixo Mondego, of great importance to a crop that can often be overlooked: rice. This walk begins in the rice paddies of the Baixo Mondego. You'll walk along the river banks, through Castro de Santa Olaia and Montemor-o-Velho Castillo, discovering hundred-year-old sluice gates, a tide mill, a Roman bridge hidden in the fields, and finish your route at the Salt Museum.
