Initially conceived as a military fortress, the Alcazar is a beautiful architectural site in which its gardens are alternated with the traditional Mudejar gardens and the four towers that allow reliving historic moments of Spanish history.

In the Alcázar de los Reyes Católicos one can find some substantial pieces of Spanish history, as well as beautifully preserved gardens and courtyards of the Mudejar tradition.

There is an entry fee (€ 4) and it is opened from Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 14:00 and 17:30 to 19:30 hours and on Sundays from 09:30 to 14:30.

When the summer season approaches the visitor can enjoy the visual exuberance that reigns the streets of the old town of Cordoba.

Each year Cordoba celebrates the Window Grilles and Balconies Competition in which the best decorated one with flowers or naturals elements receives a price. This event is complemented by the Patio Festival, another popular event in which Cordoba awards what is the best decorated yard in the town.

When? First fortnight of May

The most festive days are lived in Cordoba during the fair in May in a special atmosphere that every year mixes the flamenco casetas with horses, ruffled dresses, the typical hats from Cordoba, the glasses of fine wine with fried fish and the inevitable rebujitos.

May Fair is held in the Cordoba in the Arenal area with a clear advantage over the April and May Fairs in other cities of Andalucia: the booths are public and open to anyone wishing to join the party.
When? Last week of May

The Cordoba Guitar Festival has nearly 30 years of uninterrupted editions. This musical event transcends cultural barriers to provide ten days of concerts and activities with good music as a requirement of the proposals.

In the Cordoba Guitar Festival live flamenco figures such as Paco de Lucia, Vicente Amigo and Tomatito, with other giants of the six strings like BB King, Bob Dylan, Carlos Santana, John McLaughlin and Joe Satriani, all of them participants of some edition of the renowned festival.
