The Eurostars Lucentum is a modern hotel located in the heart of Alicante, very close to the Mercado Central and just a few metres from the port and the old quarter, making it the perfect vantage point for visiting the city on foot. Lucentum was the ancient name for Alicante back when the Iberians and Romans lived there. Greeks, Phoenicians and Tartesos passed through Lucentum, while Roman Lucentum boasted baths and a forum. Along with Ilici (Elche), it was one of the largest towns in the Roman east coast of what is today Spain. Over the centuries, Lucentum became Leucante, and with the arrival of the Arabs it came to be known as Al-Laqant.
